Horton crossbows brought crossbows out of the dark ages and into the modern era through innovation and application of technology. They offer a wide selection of crossbows that will meet any hunter's needs.
Horton's 150 lb. draw crossbows are perfect for taking down medium-sized game such as deer, antelope, and turkey. The 175 lb. draw crossbows will work on elk, caribou and black bear. For moose, grizzly bear, cape buffalo, and bigfoot, Horton offers 175-200 lb. draw crossbows (just kidding about bigfoot. I'm sure he's on the endangered species list...).
Horton's speciality lies in compound crossbows - like most other manufacturers (they can charge more for compounds). They offer several models in 150, 175, and 200 lb. draws. They propel bolts from 175 to 345 feet per second (fps).
Horton Explorer XL 150
Horton unfortunately only offers one model of recurve crossbow that is suitable for hunting - the Steelforce 150. It retails for around $150. It's suitable for hunting rabbits and maybe even deer or antelope.
Horton sells directly to the public via their website, but they are very expensive. Stores like Bass Pro Shops sell them for well below retail. Call 1-800-551-7468 for service requests on your Horton crossbow. Most Horton limbs have a three-year warranty, but some have a limited lifetime warranty.
